To foster and ensure the safety of performers, artistic, and technical team we abide by these rules:
- Quirk will issue contracts at the beginning of each production that clearly outlines its culture and values and the ways in which to uphold them for each category of employee as detailed below:
- Safety guidelines for physical and emotional safety
- Physical
- Proper accommodations for physical limitations of performers and crew alike will be honored and prioritized, no matter the venue.
- Clear division of roles of the creative/technical team during participation in set-up and tear-down, stagehanding, and technical lighting and sound mounting and hangs.
- Communicate and uphold individual consent on any situation involving physical vulnerability, including lift and intimacy training, private changing rooms when possible, and dressing interactions.
- Emotional
- Implement a NED reporting individual who will interact with all performers throughout and following the production period to hear any interpersonal or professional concerns. They will be a neutral third party who is not involved with any company leadership roles.
- Offer through the NED interpersonal mediation between artistic staff and performers.
- Enforce safe space guidelines around artistic emotional vulnerability in rehearsals and performances involving:
- Sensitivity awareness.
- Outlining and communicating what diversity, intersectionality, and inclusion means to Quirk Theatre Company.
- Issue mid and post production anonymous, detailed surveys with open ended responses.
- Offer proper incident reporting channels:
- NED mediary individual will be physically present during the production process.
- Anonymous phone hotline run by a company that is not associated with Quirk will be reachable by anyone with any level of involvement with production, including audiences members and members of the Denver theatre community.
- Clearly communicate, honor, and uphold the
Colorado Theatre Guild Standards for Theatre.
